She Shefs Inc.’s, Why?
It all began with a simple conversation with one of her former mentors, a seasoned culinary instructor. He reached out to her, troubled by the plight of a group of brown girls in his class who felt disheartened by the lack of representation in the culinary world. Their words struck a chord deep within Ashley's soul.
Reflecting on her own struggles and triumphs in the industry, Ashley knew firsthand the uphill battle faced by women of color. But instead of succumbing to the status quo, she blazed her own trail, defying conventions and carving out her own path to success.
Driven by a passionate resolve, Ashley embarked on a mission to shatter stereotypes and pave the way for the next generation of culinary trailblazers. Thus, She Shefs Inc. was born—a beacon of hope and opportunity for aspiring young girls who dare to dream of a future in the kitchen.
With every ounce of her being, Ashley poured her heart and soul into this endeavor, determined to make a difference in the lives of those who, like her, yearned for a place at the table. Founder & CEO: Chef Ashley T. Henderson
Chef Ashley T. Henderson is a distinguished culinary professional based in Dallas, TX, with over
20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. Her career is marked by a series of high-profile
roles and significant contributions to some of the most innovative and successful dining concepts
in the region.
Trinity Groves for Phil Romano
Chef Ashley's career includes a pivotal tenure at Trinity Groves, a renowned restaurant incubator
founded by Phil Romano. In this role, she was instrumental in developing and managing multiple
culinary concepts, showcasing her ability to innovate and lead in a high-volume, dynamic
environment.
AvoEatery by Avocados from Mexico
As the Executive Chef and General Manager for AvoEatery, a groundbreaking restaurant concept
by Avocados from Mexico, Chef Ashley played a crucial role in launching and establishing this
multibillion-dollar brand. Her expertise in menu development, operational management, and
strategic planning was key to the restaurant's success and growth.
Restaurant Openings
Throughout her illustrious career, Chef Ashley has been involved in the opening of over 16
restaurants. Her comprehensive experience spans from initial concept development to staff
training and operational setup, ensuring each establishment's successful launch and sustained
performance.
Michelin Star Experience
Chef Ashley has also had the privilege of working under Michelin-starred Chef Kurt
Gunterbunner. In her role as Senior Food & Beverage Manager for David Barry's Urby concepts,
she honed her skills in high-end culinary arts and luxury dining management, further solidifying
her reputation as a top-tier culinary professional.
Educational Background
Chef Ashley's formal culinary education was completed at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu,
where she developed a solid foundation in classical cooking techniques and culinary arts. This
education, combined with her extensive practical experience, has equipped her with a unique
